Shepherd’s Fashion FUNRaiser Raises $20,000 in Support of Mental Health Programs at Youville Centre

On Tuesday, October 20, 2015, Shepherd’s Fashions hosted a Fashion FUNRaiser in support of Youville Centre at their Train Yards store. A more intimate version of the Ooh ‘n Ahh Fashion Show and Gala, this Fashion FUNRaiser gathered over 120 guests to enjoy an evening of fashion, food and fundraising in support of Youville Centre’s young mothers and their children. This year we continued the tradition of including women who have made an impact on Youville Centre as models in the fashion show, and they modelled Shepherd’s amazing fashions in the finale portion of the show.

Raising $20,000, this event combined a fashion show, 50/50 draw, door prizes, and silent and live auctions. Sam Poole, General Manager and Lead Stylist at Shepherd’s, put on a fabulous fashion show, highlighting Shepherd’s models and our special guest models in a wide range of clothing styles for all ages, shapes, sizes, and occasions. Hair and makeup services were generously provided by The Loft/Le Spa. The evening wrapped up with a chance to shop in the Shepherd’s store, with 10% of the sales to be donated to Youville Centre. The Live Auction was expertly hosted by Lawrence Greenspon, and the evening was hosted by a loyal friend to Youville Centre and a wonderful Emcee, the incomparable Leanne Cusack. This year we also welcomed back our “Men In Black”, loyal Youville donors and advocates who dressed in their favourite black suits to help us sell tickets for the 50/50 draw.

Join us for a Fabulous Fall Fashion Show ~ Your Support will help a Young Mom like Sarah

Lately we have been having a lot of fun preparing for our upcoming Shepherd’s Fashion FUNRaiser event this coming Tuesday, October 20th at Shepherd’s Train Yards at 6:00 pm!

It is going to be a fantastic night of fun and fashion, and we hope to see you there! For a little fashion inspiration, here are some photos from last year’s event:

We also thought we would tell you more about why we are having this event in the first place! We are raising funds so that more of our young moms here at Youville Centre (ages 14 to 21) can access mental health and addiction counselling, and so their children (ages 1 month to 3 years) can access parent-child attachment counselling and continue to benefit from our infant mental health programs.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014, Youville Centre joined together once again with Marlene Shepherd and Shepherd’s Fashions  for a fabulous Fashion FUNRaiser. A smaller, more intimate version of the Ooh ‘n Ahh Fashion Show, this event was held inside Shepherd’s Train Yards store.

Raising over $25,000 with significant contributions from Scotiabank and Shepherd’s, this event was a great success, thanks in large part to the many sponsors and donors who contributed. (Please see a list below of the sponsors and donors who helped to make this event possible.)

This year we decided to honour nine women who have made a significant impact on Youville Centre, whether it be through their work, volunteerism, donations or philanthropic initiatives. Shepherd’s Helps Youville Grads Prepare for Fashion Show

On Monday, October 7th, six lucky Youville Centre graduates got the chance to try on some glamourous gowns at Shepherd’s Fashions! In preparation for our long running fashion show fundraiser with Marlene Shepherd (which was on October 22), our alumnae tried on cocktail dresses and formal evening wear, all in an effort to choose the perfect outfit in which to walk the runway at the event.

Adding a special fashion show finale where Youville Centre grads would proudly model in the show was an idea we had been working on for a while, and once we had chosen our alumnae models, Marlene Shepherd generously offered to dress them for the fashion show.

After our grads chose a dress, it was time to accessorize, and Marlene and her team graciously helped our Youville alumnae pick the perfect earrings, bracelets and necklaces to go with their dresses.

 It was a chance to get dressed up and have fun with fashion, and an opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and get to know other Youville Centre grads from over the years. Many thanks to Marlene and her team for being so generous!

Shepherd’s Fashion Show Set for October 22, 2013 ~ Tickets on Sale Now!

Once again, loyal Youville Centre supporter Marlene Shepherd is hosting the Ooh ‘n Ahh Fashion Show & Auction in support of Youville Centre! This year’s event is set for Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre (formerly known as the Hampton Inn Conference Centre).

It will be an evening of fashion, food, philanthropy and fun! Incidentally it is also Shepherd’s 35th Anniversary, so guests are encouraged to wear a vintage Shepherd’s favourite if they wish!
